Bonus Material – A Jamie Sketch from 2014
The hiatus between chapters is going to be longer than the usual 2 to 4 weeks. In fact, Chapter 6 won’t be ready for a while due to my needing to catch up on KickStarter fulfillment and other work. So, to make up for that, I’m posting behind-the-scenes content once a week on Wednesdays!
(Usually, only Ko-Fi fans get to see stuff like this. Once the hiatus ends, the behind-the-scenes looks will stay exclusive to fans. So if you want to see more things like this in the future, be sure to support me on Ko-Fi.)
Today’s peek is this, a sketch of Jamie from 2014. Yep, The Legend of Jamie Roberts has been a pet project of mine since even BEFORE that! In fact, I’ve been drawing art and making ideas for this story while I was in college from 2008 to 2012. (Oh my gosh I’m old).
At one point, in a previous draft of the story, Jamie and their two friends were soldiers in training. Unfortunately, they discovered a terrible secret about their society and escaped into piracy. After I got creatively stuck at one point in writing the story, I sought feedback from my older sister. She listened, and she suggested, “Just make them pirates. You like them better that way anyway.”
So, lesson 1 of writing a comic: Keep It Simple, Silly.
Lesson 2: Write what you are SUPER jazzed about.
That’s all for now. Come back next week for another behind-the-scenes look! And if you have the means, send a tip on Ko-Fi.
You. Are. Awesome.
